Suite in B-flat (complete)
Reusner was one of the most sophisticated practitioners of the styl brisť. All the movements are based on the same harmonic plan, heard in the arpeggiated chords of the unbarred Prelude, then elaborated in the various rhythmic guises of the suite's subsequent French dance movements: Courante, Sarabande and Gigue. In the Sonatina the melodic material is supported by chords in which the index finger strums in both directions, lending the piece an air of gracefulness derived from Italian music for the guitar. See the notes about the Hofmann lute, upon which this suite is played.
